IFS Therapy

Have you ever caught yourself saying, "One part of me feels like going out, while another part wants to stay at home"? It's common for people to experience internal conflicts and strive to navigate through this inner turmoil and confusion. This often involves suppressing less desirable aspects of ourselves to allow other parts to take precedence, as a form of self-protection. In my practice of Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, I assist clients in understanding and befriending these different parts of themselves, with the aim of liberating them from the burdens and roles they've carried for so long. This process enables individuals to align more closely with their true selves. IFS is an evidenced-based therapy, fostering greater integration within oneself and making room for healing qualities like clarity and self-compassion, among others.

Your truest Self holds so much healing potential.

Regardless of the brokenness within, every individual possesses inherent beauty within their authentic selves. As inner space is created among your internal parts, these innate qualities naturally surface, aiding in your healing journey. They allow your various parts to be seen with compassion, liberated from pain and the residue of trauma, and enable your loyal protective parts to relax and attain more freedom.

  • This is not the case at all! Every complex system is made up of the sum of its parts. This is true from the many systems of our body, the solar system, and even something as small as an atom. These complex systems function with parts playing specialized roles to create homeostasis within the system.

  • We will explore what you are wanting to engage and begin to identify and track the various parts that are involved in your concern. From there, we will get to know the protective parts around your concern and begin to negotiate so we can engage the more vulnerable and wounded parts of yourself. Some clients prefer to do this work with their eyes closed, but this is not necessary and can even be done using objects or writing.

  • Many clients come to me feeling stuck in patterns and feeling hopeless or ashamed. Through our work together, I hope you will become more familiar with the many parts of yourself that are present everyday, and experience more freedom so that parts of you can reclaim what they were most meant for. The goal of IFS is not assimilation, but integration of all parts so a sense of synergy can occur within yourself and your many valuable parts.
